SIRENS COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

In-School Fitness Programs

In 2002, the Sacramento Sirens players piloted an in-school program on fitness and athleticism in elementary schools. Beginning in March 2003, Sirens athletes returned to visit both elementary and junior high school programs. The "In-School Fitness Program" emphasizes cooperation and competition for all children, especially those at risk for obesity. Click here to read more about the classroom presentations and some of the key points children will learn from the Sirens players.

Take a look at some pictures from the recent In-School
at Frontier Elementary.

If you are interested in this program for your school, please send an e-mail with your contact information to: programs@sacramentosirens.com.

Football Clinics for Kids

During the summer and fall, Sirens athletes will be conducting football clinics for kids aged 8 to 14. Separate girls clinics are available. Look for dates and locations coming up during the regular season. Clinics are free to all kids participating.

Football 101 Seminars for Fans

Sirens coaches and players team up to provide a comprehensive class in the basics of football, referees calls, strategies, and a chance to wear the gear and try a drill or two. Seminar class size is limited to 15 people. Course fee is $25.00. For more information, please send an e-mail with your contact information to: programs@sacramentosirens.com.

SIRENS COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

Sirens Players Spread Holiday Cheer in the Community

During the holiday months, several Sirens players volunteer their time working with local charities and organizations to promote health, fitness and spread holiday cheer. They have in the past, assisted organizers of the Oak Park Community Center and the Giving Tree at Sunrise Mall with donations and gift distribution. Look for them this season at the Sacramento downtown Santa Parade and helping out throughout the greater Sacramento area!

Sirens Players Awarded “Volunteer of the Year” Awards

Two Sirens were honored by the Sacramento chapter of the Mental Health Association for their volunteer work with developmentally disadvantaged kids in 2002. Margie Wells and Angela “Jethro” Chambers, both offensive linemen for the team, spent hours coaching youth in the sport of football and teaching them the basics of physical fitness through athletics.
